Single Colour Screen Print
Internally displaced people 06, is an exploration in the theory of ‘designing for an ethical message’, using the uniformity and order of the grid, mixed with the natural topographical beauty of a landscape, to demonstrate the scale of humanitarian crisis in Western Darfur and Eastern Chad. Each print was screen printed by K2 Screen, on 240gsm GF Smith, Black Plike paper and is scaled at 720 by 1020mm.

Lately I’ve really noticed that I’ve been really attracted to a lot of the things that SwissMiss blogs about. So rather than reposting them for the future, for those of you who don’t know her blog already, I’ll just direct you guys to her. SwissMiss

Hi all dear bloggers of “_dreams”
No this isn’t a post about some cool design work that i saw. This is a call for collaboration on a project that came to mind. In fact, that was the very reason why this blog was started at all; to act as a platform for collaborative works, a communicative portal of sorts. All that aside, here’s the idea for the project and if you’re interested in doing this together (even though i know you must be crazily busy with preparing for Survey and whatnot), please leave a comment on this post saying you’re in. So here goes:
A short story will be picked, something familiar to most people, and different sections will be assigned to different people to be intepreted in whatever way they want (whether typographically or graphically or whatever; or in the tradition of Matt Rappo, the intepretation of no intepretation). The different interpretations, or ‘facets’ as i’d like to call it, will be pieced together on a book to form a continuous story. The workload would be roughly like maybe 10 black and white spreads of anything cool that you wanna come up with. This is not a class assignment, so you dont have to justify what you’re doing, as long as it’s cool and we sort of know it relates to the story. The Animatrix is a pretty good example of this idea, although it’s not exactly continuous. If we can get this done before survey, we can make enough copies for everyone and have something extra to show for our survey too, which can be nice. But if not, i’d be interested in doing this even after school ends, for fun and for the love of design/art.
So, anyone interested? It doesnt only have to be people from this blog, it can be other people too. Feel free to leave comments or suggestions or questions.
Meet Your Printmaker will keep you informed of commercial and independent printers and printmakers all over the world. From woodcut to offset. Our goal is to become a directory and resource for artists and designers looking to work or collaborate with unique printers and printmakers.
Too often, especially in the design world, printers are uncredited and behind the scenes. We would like to bring them forward. So, let us know about your shop or a shop you work with. Email us with links, studio images, recent work, etc.
some people say its an April Fool’s joke…but it looks pretty darn real….
